In Love With Stamping Blog Hop

To get everyone in the spirit of stamping ILWS has organised a blog hop showcasing products available from the Stampin' Up! Spring Mini.

You should have joined me from Karas blog so welcome and I hope you enjoy the projects I have to show you today.

First up is a box made using the much anticipated ( in my case anyway) 2-3/8'' scallop circle punch.

This was designed by Kay Sha, an American demo, and she sells the tutorial on her blog

I had seen these boxes on her blog and tried to recreate it on my own but couldn't for the life of me figure it out so I bought the tutorial (its was only a couple of pounds). Anyway turned out the base was made using the larger scallop circle which at the time we didnt stock, so you can imagine that I was a little miffed.

Nothing else I tried worked so the new punch was first on my to buy list!!!

Next up is a little thank you card using Create a Cupcake stamp set and Cupcake builder punch.

Are you noticing a bit of a theme here.

And finally using the same set again but creating a different look

Today I thought I'd share the final news from convention, slightly later than planned.

I have been super busy preparing for a couple of fayres I'll be attending.

The last few bits I wanted to share (there have been tons to choose from) are

The Bag

Each convention attendee gets an exclusive bag given to them at registration. So as a convention virgin I was particularly excited about receiving mine, and boy was it worth getting excited about.

It has so many little pockets and is also the right size for cabin luggage * bonus*.

I couldn't go all the way to Disneyland Paris and not go in a park right???

We managed to get a few hours in one of the parks before our flight on the Sunday, I struggled with a fair bit of 'parental guilt' as my boys were all still at home but it just made me more determined to save up and take them next year.

The Pud

I couldn't end my convention news without including a picture of this awesome pudding

No I didnt eat it all by myself (it was meant for 2) and even then we couldn't finish it.

Oh but it was sooooo yummy.

So thats it from Convention 2011.

Roomie gifts, Swaps and Shelli

There are many traditions associated with convention and other Stampin' Up! events the main one is swapping but I'll come to that in a minute.

Another is to thank your roomie with a handmade gift
(cause thats what we do best as crafters is it not?)

This is what I received from Lisa

Its a christmas organiser,

which will come in very handy this year as I am hosting christmas for the first time ever, normally I let my mum and dad do all the work!!!

This is what I made for Lisa

A flower broch made with the georgous Timeless Portrait fabric

and this fabulous little box that I found a tutorial for on You Tube.

Lisa was a brilliant roomie and we got on really well, so well in fact that we talked far too much which resulted in very little sleep.

Right on to the swaps.

This was my first SU event and although I had been involved in swaps before they were never on this scale.

I came home with some amazing creations, thank you ladies they will make my displays incredible.

And finally today I want to show you this

Have I got news for you!!!!!!

Shall we just ignore for the moment that its been forever since I last blogged, I am sorry (I know some of you have faithfully been checking in with me and for that I am grateful) but life just kind of ran away with me.

But you may well forgive me when you read what I've got to tell you because I have just (2 days ago) got home from my very first Stampin' Up! Convention.

OMG (and I do not say that lightly) it was amazing. I'm sure if your familiar with Stampin' Up! then the whole convention thing wont be new to you, I know since I discovered Stampin' Up! I love to read other demonstrators blogging about their time at past conventions, BUT reading about it is nothing compared to actually being there.

Firstly its great to be surrounded by people who not only 'get' my hobby but also 'get' my obsession with Stampin' Up! its also an opportunity to hear other demos stories of success, share ideas and generally have a laugh.

I hope the photos that I shall be sharing with you over the next few days will go some way to show you how it feels to be part of the family that is Stampin' Up!

So each years convention has a theme and this years was........

I attended convention with my Stampin' Up! mum Abi, here she is mounting her stamps we all got free for attending.

and my SU sisters Kathy, Jayne and Lisa.

Here we are in Paris on Thursday night, we were very brave and negotiated the Paris Metro system so we could go see.....

apologies for the slightly blurred picture.

One thing I didn't expect to see was a double decker train, but then I don't imagine the Parisians expected to see some over excited women taking a picture of one either, but it had to be done.

Its going to be a bit quite on the blog front for the next two weeks as I head off to Spain to visit my parents.

Now a brilliant blogger would have organised a whole heap of projects to share with you during that time but lets face it that will never be me.

Hey I'm just impressed that I had the foresight to let you know I'm off!!!!!

Before I go I wanted to show you a little baking I did on Friday.

Now doesn't that Striped Grosgrain Ribbon just really set this nappy cake off.

Unfortunately it is no longer available in Rich Razzleberry but check out the Ideas Book and Catalogue for the colours you can get this ribbon in.

Display Ideas

This is one of those ideas that when you see it you go 'now why didn't I think of that?'

Cheap, effective and quite fun to do and the idea curtesy of that time consuming place Pintrest.

I plan to use mine for my Halloween display and also for when I do craft fairs.

To make your own you just need old plates and glasses/jars.

I got my from a charity shop for £3 and the jar I've had kicking around for about 4 years, I wouldn't get rid of of because of the pattern and I knew I'd find a good use for it one day.

Decide how to stack your stands. Originally I had planned to do a 3 tier stand for my craft desk to store 'stuff' but then decided that 3 stands would suit my needs better.

You need a good strong glue for this job. I used one from a DIY store, it had to be left to set for 24 hours.

~I was only a little impatient~

24 and a bit hours and 3 coats of paint later

I have to admit to being very excited about these (my hubby thinks I'm nuts).

BUT this project only cost about £13 and I still have 1/2 a can of spray paint left.

And with the range of colours available you could make these for any occasion or use.

One thing I will say though is PLEASE use a primer before painting, I didn't because I thought I'd save myself a few a quid and the paint is already chipping when knocked.

The Count Tutorial

Third and final Halloween Owl tutorial for you today

To make The Count you will need to punch out

1 Perfect Plum body

1/2 Basic Black body (top half)

1 'waistcoat' Perfect Plum DSP

~I've used the one with writing on~

1 lg eye Perfect Plum

2 lg eyes Whisper White

2 med eyes Basic Black

2 tiny eyes Real Red

I lg Boho Blossom Flower Basic Black

Cut the lg Perfect Plum eye and the Basic Black in half

Ink all the Perfect Plum edges

To make the head piece I used the 1/2'' circle punch.

I mark my card so I can line the punch up, you dont have to do this but chances are if you dont you'll end up with a wonky head!!!

I use my SU grid paper to line up the marks but if you want to measure by hand then the centre dot needs to be in the center of the head at about 7mm and the 2 side marks are about 1cm from the tips of the ears.

Line up one side dot with the centre dot and punch. Do the same on the other side.

Snip of the scrap bit at the bottom and you have a head/hair.

Stick it all together and put black dots on the red eyes using the Basic Black marker.

So there you have it 3 Halloween Owls to do with as you wish.

Mine are stuck on the wall at the moment but they will probably be put to use on my Halloween banner (when I make it).

Frankie Tutorial

Today I shall be sharing the second of my Halloween Owl tutorials and as the title suggests today is Frankies turn.

It was actually Frankie that started it all as for the last couple of years I've seen his form on so many SU blogs, but back then didn't have all the supplies to make one.

This year though I have ALL the circle punches but when it came to it I decided it was soooo last season and that Frankie needed a revamp. And what better why to do it than with the ever popular Owl Punch.

Also in this tutorial I'll show the way I now cut my owl beaks, for ages I've just cut a small triangle but I've figured a new way which (I think) looks better. Compare the two ways at the end and decide for yourself.

To start you need to punch

1 Pumpkin Pie body

1 Old Olive body

1 Perfect Plum 1/2 body (top half)

1 'waistcoat' Soft Suede

1 heart Basic Grey

2 lg eyes Whisper White

1 lg eye Old Olive

2 md eyes Basic Black

Cut the heart and Old Olive eye in half

Cut the Perfect Plum half body to resemble a messy fringe.

Ink all edges.

To create the beak punch the very top part of the heart onto a scrap of Pumpkin Pie.

Discard the punched bit and snip the 'v' part that is left on the scrap card... simple beak!!

Assembly is straight forward so I didn't bother to take pictures of that.

The Basic Grey heart becomes the two bolts on either side of Frankies head.
I've used white gel pen to add highlight to the eyes, Basic Black marker for the scars and Soft Suede marker to add lines to the waistcoat to make it look grubby and old.

Bit short and sweet this one but to be honest he is fairly straight forward, but if you do have any question please feel free to ask.

A tutorial for you

Do you remember my Halloween Owl post here, well I posted the pictures onto my Splitcoaststampers gallery and yesterday when I went back I discovered I had received some lovely comments. Two ladies asked for a tutorial (sorry for not looking sooner) so I sat at my craft desk and came up with this picture tutorial of the Mummy Owl.

The method for making these owls is really quite simple just a little fiddly. Also lighting is a bit off as I have very poor lighting in my craft area (at night), you would have laughed at me if you had seen me taking these pictures, one hand holding the camera the other trying to direct an LED light without casting shadow.

So heres what you'll need to start:

1 owl in Pumpkin Pie

2 owls in Whisper White - cut off the feet

1 set of owl eyes

1 large flower from Boho Blossom

Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad

Ink up the edges of all Whisper White pieces then grab your paper snips.

Cut the flower in half and ink the exposed edges

~these become the wings~

Slice into the owl bodies and ink the exposed edges.

~do both Whisper White bodies, these become the bandages~

Now if you like jigsaws then you'll do well here.

Take a bandage piece one at a time and find its 'place' on the Pumpkin Pie owl.

The idea here is to mix up the Whisper White bits so that you place them randomly.

So that you end up with this

(3 owl bodies in one)

Now all thats left is to glue the wings on the back, assemble and glue on the eyes and add a cut scrap of Pumpkin Pie to make a beak.

A scrappy little card

Its always nice to dip into the scrap pile every so often to stop it from taking over, so here is a card made entirely of scraps.

Well all apart from the Window Sheet!!!

I was cutting out Top Notes for another project and was left with an A6 card with a top note aperture.

I used scraps of the new In Colours with Pennant Parade to create the bunting.

The snail is from Easy Events and the sign from Party This Way.

Any die hard Stampin' Up! lover will notice that the sign is actually facing the opposite direction to the way it would had it been stamped directly. To do this I stamped only the sign portion of the stamp first, then using the Stamp-a-ma-jig stamped the words facing the way I wanted.

Not your typical pumpkins

Every Halloween I carve pumpkins to sit in my front garden and welcome trick or treaters.

This year I thought I would add a few alternative pumpkins to the mix.

How cool are these little guys, and so so easy (and cheap) to make.

To paint on the glass you just mix PVA with a small amount of water and a few drops of food colouring.

(Thanks Pinterest for this little gem)

The runs in the colour were due to putting too much paint on at once, but I got a little impatient so have decided it adds to the spooky feel.

I used an assortment of empty glass jars and scraps of Basic Black to create the faces and popped in a few tea lights.

Quick, simple and a great little project to do if you craft with little ones, just be careful with the food colouring as it will stain.

Time to wet your appitite

Mummys Little Helper

Well this week life went back to normal.

Aaron went back to college, Aaron to nursery and Aidan and I went back to our well established routine of me crafting while he takes his morning nap.

Except that is for Friday

Fridays nap was none existent so I had a little helper while I played.

As you can see my work area shrank at a tiny tiny size.

I finally gave in when a lorry crashed into my rubbish pot and tiny bits off punched paper ended up all over the floor.

I did get a couple of bits done using the Owl Punch.

Aren't they so cute and not the least bit spooky.

I've seen all three of these guys done in different formats over the years and just replicated them onto the much loved owl.

Really, he can be anything you want him to be and with owls still being a big trend at the mo he really is a good buy.

What no blog post, how unlike me!!!!

Sorry sorry sorry.

I had planned to pre-post some stuff for when I was away but then I got a call to say we were finally ready to complete on the sale of my house.....

the day before I went on holiday.

Needless to say things kind of went a bit manic, but I'm back now so things should return to normal

(for any regular visitors you'll know that doesn't necessarily mean regular posts - I will try)

So yes I have been away on the first of my holidays this year (aren't I a lucky girl).

The family and I headed a bit further into Cornwall for a weeks adventure under canvas.

I wouldn't say I'm a hardened camper - this being my 4th year - but I'm getting there.

I love sleeping in the tent and despite the cold I really enjoy sitting outside under the stars waiting for the 'whistle' that lets me know my kettle has finally boiled.

Well we came home on Friday and the last two days have been spent running the washing machine into the ground (and the tumble dryer for that matter)

and drying out the tent as we packed up in a down pour.

In a couple of months I'm off to sunny Spain to visit my parents so the weather should be a little better there.

I shall be back in a day or two with some Stampin' Up! news and a project to share.

Ive been holding off blogging this card for the last couple of days because I didn't want the recipient to see it online before seeing it in person.

My wonderful SU mummy became a real mummy again when she had her third child this month.

Bet you cant guess what she had!!!!!!

So congratulations Abi and Pani and on the arrival of your beautiful

(and she really is I'm not just saying that)

baby girl.

I'm afraid I'm one of 'those' people who can't seem to do gender neutral colours when it comes to babies so 'bring on the pink' I say.

Its Ok to copy?????

An idea I'm trying to except.

I truly do believe that copying another crafters idea is a sign of appreciation (providing you give credit of course)
and that what your actually saying is
'I really like your work'.

So, why is it then that when it comes down to it I feel like I've failed in some way by copying?

I want to be able to create gorgeous bits of art
(lets be honest that is what we do) that I thought up all by my self,
and I reckon I could do it

IF I HAD THE BLASTED TIME !!!!!!
~sorry had to get that off my chest~

Why have I ventured down this road?

Well I wanted to make a box set of cards but I had zero time in which to do it.
Then I remembered seeing on Jenny Moors blog a tutorial to do just that.

Here is my set and I do feel bad saying that I copied it almost completely.

But it got the job done .......

And they do look good ........

You have no idea the relief I feel knowing my husband will be at home tomorrow to share the hell that has been my youngest teething.My first 2 boys never suffered teething pain very much, certainly nothing a little Calpol didn't cure. But boy, poor old Aidan is having a time of it. To start the week he had a high temp and just wanted cuddles, not too difficult until Alex (he's only 3) got very jealous and started playing up more than usual.But then yesterday came the screaming.My poor baby was in so much distress he was writhing around. I tried everything but nothing worked. Then it just stopped for a couple of hours in the afternoon before begining again at dinner time.So today I am thankful that a) Aidan seems well enough to trash my craft areaand b) tomorrow I'll be able to go to the toilet alone.Needless to say no crafting has taken place this week with any luck I'll have enough energy over the next few evenings to have a play.See you soon and happy crafting Hayley xxxx

The big reveal

Today I'm going to show you my little crafting space.

I feel very lucky to have somewhere that I can comfortably sit and play and also display nicely the things I love.

I know it sounds a bit corny but when the kids are driving me nuts and I need a breather I just come and stand surrounded my stamps, inks and cardstock and breathe deeply and it does the trick.

Having the space doesn't mean that I get any more time to play, but my babies are still young so I'll steal the moments I can because when I have more time for me it really means they have less time for me!!!!!

I pinched these DVD shelves when we moved over from the old house.

You can change the position of the shelves which makes the perfect for storing my stamp sets and Sizzix dies.

The white draw unit was something my mum left behind when she moved to Spain (it looked very lonely so I adopted it.

Under the glass shelve is where I'm going to keep my old style Stampin' Up! punches, just waiting on Pete to get the drill out (I had a go myself and bodged the wall up a bit oops)

This is my Ikea unit that I showed you in a previous post. It is now all mine (no toys). Here I store my ink pads, cardstock and DSP.

The baskets are great for throwing stuff in yet still keeping everything looking tidy.

Bit of a dodgy picture this one, not that I'm complaining about the amount of natural light I get, it just doesn't make for great pictures.

The table is another adopted item left by mum, its a drop leaf table so I just pull out one side when I need it, and if I ever want more space I just pull out the other side too.

It has 6 big chunky draws in the middle (3 on each side) so it doubles up nicely for storage.

I'm still organising things and haven't quite got it how I'd like it, but its getting there.

Most things have to be kept out of reach of curious little fingers!!!!!

Oh dear, slight internet glitch....

Well I'm in.

The boxes have been unpacked and the Internet finally restored.

We have had sooo much trouble getting our phone and broadband sorted and its still not right but atleast I can now blog.

First off I'll show you the cards I had planned to have set up to post during the time my Internet would be down

(only it went down early).

The first 2 cards are made using the stamp set, Fast & Fabulous which is only available to Stampin' Up! hostesses.

My craft area has turned out to be much bigger then I ever thought it would be, I kept sneaking more stuff in and checking my husbands facial expressions to see if I should stop.... hehe

I'll take some pictures over the next couple of days to show you as I am so very chuffed.

Of course now that the summer holidays have started my crafting time will decrease considerably but I've set myself a few goals to take me up to October so that should help me try harder to find time.

A sorry state to be in.

Contained in these 4 boxes is (almost) all my craft supplies.

Whats still to be packed would fill another box but I decided to try and conceal the extend of my spending from my husband before you could use it against me.

So as you may have guessed I am moving house.

Its been along time coming but finally this weekend we load up and go.

We bought our house 6 years ago and it was the first home we 'owned' having always rented before.

Its very small only 2 bedrooms but there were only 3 of us so it was great.

Fast forward to the present day and there are now 5 of us all crammed into our little shoe box so we are selling up and moving up the road to a bigger 3 bed.

Yippeeeeee

I do have some cards to show you this week then when I'm all unpacked I'll take some shots of my new improved crafting space.

For some unexplainable reason my family didn't think a craft room should go on the essential list in our new home, so I shall be making do with one end of the front room which I plan to have set up as a permanent work space.

No more fold up tables for this crafter.

Still using Long Fellows this time on a layout inspired from the Catalogue and Ideas Book.

The colours look abit off on screen, I've used Pumpkin Pie, So Saffron, Concord Crush and Poppy Parade.

This little guy is from the level 2 hostess set Long Fellows stamped on Pumpkin Pie then crimped in the middle. It was a technique I'd seen done a long time ago and banked in my 'got to try' part of my brain.

I also used Old Olive, So Saffron and Cherry Cobbler from my scraps folder.

Not too sure on the colour combo, I don't think relying on my scraps is the way to go,

might have to invest in the Stampin' Up! colour coach next month.

Bring on the Bryer

For a while now I have ummmed and ahhhed about buying a brayer having seen some amazing projects made by this very simple looking bit of equipment.

Finally I caved (like thats a shock) and have enjoyed looking at it on the shelf for the past month.

Today however I bit the bullet and actually used it and this is the result.

I created the borders with the Very Vintage jumbo wheel in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla card

and brayed over the top with chocolate chip.

Then a bit of slicing, dicing and mounting on Chocolate Chip card

(gotta love that colour co-ordination).

The sentiment is from Occasional Greetings and flowers from Vintage Vogue.

I took a lot for me to put down the Melon Mambo ink pad and instead reach for the Baja Breeze but I decided to try something different for a change.

I have used a few pearls in the flower centres just to finish off.

Just goes to show you don't have to pull off artistic landscapes to use a brayer, although I am going to give it a go one of these days.

I used Rich Razzleberry and Baja Breeze which were pretty good matches for the West Ham team colours of claret and blue.

And of course the colours and the owls football shirt can be changed to suit any team.

How fasinating

Last week was Abi's Angels team training.

And the lovely Abi suggested we all make a fascinators to wear on the day.

I set off looking for ideas with real enthusiasm, checking out fascinator site for ideas.

Then it hit me the only fabric Stampin' Up! produce is ribbon

and all the fascinators I was looking at were made with lace and feathers and toile,

not the easiest thing to recreate with card and paper.

Still I took inspiration and set about designing my Stampin' Up! fasonator.

What do you think?

If you've ever tried making feathers out of card then you'll know the end result is lots of tiny bits of card on the floor and not a lot else (if you get better results I'd love to hear from you).

So instead of feathers I went for curled card and floating butterfly's

(thank you Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die available in the Mini)

I made a large flower with circles cut from a Specialty Designer Series Paper that was part of a promotion last christmas.

The white bits are flocked so its close to fabric -right.

I used the same DSP to give a ruffle edge to the whole thing and popped a scalloped circle flower on the top.

It wasn't quite what I had imagined but to be honest by the end I was just glad I had finished and could move onto a new project.

If I need a fascinator for a fancy do then I think I might just visit one of the many sites I found when looking for inspiration!!!!!!!

Notice anything different?

I think old age has set in early, I was reading my blog and had to to SQUINT to read it properly
(I am a bit overdue for my eye test oops).

Once I got over my mortification I decided to increase the text size a bit, that led to a bit of a colour change and a few other minor adjustments.

At some point I fancy having an image under the title but that will wait for another day.

Enough of that, onto the reason you came.

I covered a piece of chipboard with Celebrations DSP then run it through the Big Shot with the Top Note (which should be a staple in anyones Big Shot bag).

I then attached it to another piece of covered chipboard using spacers, stuck a magnet on the back and hey presto a photo frame for my fridge.

~ the picture is of me and my two youngest boys (my eldest hides at the mere mention of a camera) taken just over a year ago and was actually stuck to my fridge, only now it looks more stylish ~

And because us crafters don't like to throw anything out, heres what I did with the middle bit.

You know when you've not done something that you know you shouldn't have and instead of just getting on and doing it you seem to avoid it completely?

Well that's whats happened with my blog.

Admittedly life has thrown me a few things that frankly I could have done without, so crafting has taken a little bit of a back seat, but still almost 2 months is definitely not good.
I know I have a couple of followers and maybe some of you pop in and out, but without regular updates your hardly likely to stick around. So I apologise and promise to do better.

Just to let you know this post is a bit long but hold on because there is some craft coming up (feel free to scroll down!)

When I signed up to be a demonstrator last October it was with the intention of creating a business doing what I love.
Fast forward 8 months and I have only done 1 workshop (thanks mum). I have, of course, only myself to blame its all very well having world domination plans but you'll succeed at nothing if you don't attempt to put those plans into action.
So I am working on an Open House to launch my 'buisness', and flyers to advertise Stampin' Up workshops and hopefully that will broaden my customer base.
I have loads of ideas of what I'd like to do including classes, local and postal but all these things are going to be put on the back burner until I have competed the first 2.
I have a big problem of working on too many things at once so feel like I'm doing loads but never actually complete anything.

Why am I telling you all this? Well maybe you too are a demo who's struggling to get off the starting block and hearing that someone else is in the same boat is just what you need. Its great to see the demo blogs out there with huge business success stories but sometimes they can leave you feeling a little intimidated as well as inspired.

So here's to the beginning of my story and please keep your fingers crossed for a happy ending!!!!!!!!

Now for the craft I promised at the start. And because you've been so patient with me I'll show you 2 pieces.

My friend Lauras little boy turned one recently and this is the card I made.

I do love Ladybirds but wish we could adopt the American name Ladybug because I think it sounds cuter.

Next up I decorated a picture frame.

Not really an exciting gift for a small boy but he has tons of toys and this way he has something that he can keep forever (at least thats what Laura said anyway).

Anyway thanks for listening to my ramblings and coming back after my absence. I plan to do a post every other day (don't think Id stick to one every day). So until Friday

Good enough to eat

Don't you agree.

As my diet started today, this will be as close to cake as I'll be getting for a while!!

I used Crazy for Cupcakes, a set I have wanted for a long time but never got around to buying.

You can't really see in the photo, but I put Crystal Effects on the cherries to give them a raised, glossy look.

This card uses the Fun Flowers die and Top Note die both available from the mini.

One of the great things about using the big shot to cut elements for your projects is that you can cut multiple sheets of cardstock at a time, so when cutting the flowers I only ran the die through once a got all three flowers

I added the leaves punched from the two step bird punch, I have found them to be a really useful element in a number of projects lately.

A little something for a little someone

I had a chat with a friend today and as I walked away I decided to add a priority item to my to do list, to put a smile back on her face.

Of course that meant making something which is always good for putting a smile on my face too.

And here it is...

I made a box using the Top Note die, available from the new mini, instructions for which I found here at Chic n' Scratch. The daffodils were made using the 5 petal flower punch and 1" circle punch.

You would be forgiven for thinking that inside shes going to find some yummy Ferrero Rocher but NO, they wouldn't fit, so in future I'm going to have a make the box a wee bit deeper.

Oh well for now I'll have to eat the FR {what a pain} and find something else to put in the box.

Whilst I was taking the photo, my eldest son came home from collage with something he made in Art class today and I wanted to share it with you.

I think its so cool {and a bit ugly} and its going to take pride of place.

I have spent more hours than I should have done blog hopping this morning checking out all the lovely projects made using some of the yummy new bits available from the mini.

And guess what (clues in the title) I don't have any.

Now as a demonstrator I get the privilege of receiving a copy of the mini a month before it goes live, not just that but I can order items in advance so that when its time to show the world, I have something to show.

But that age old problem struck, the thing we all have to contend with now and then No CASH, or at least not to spend on my ~~addiction~~ hobby. However I have now placed my order and it should arrive by the end of the week when I shall beaver away and present you with some ideas.

For now though I show you a bright and cheerful card made using Party This Way.

And not a bit of brown in sight yeaaaah.

Being a mother of two young children (and one big one) I have accumulated ALOT of childrens board books, most of which go soggy from being chewed.

So I decided an intervention was called for and I rescued about 5 or 6 with the plans to turn them into something beautiful.

Well that was about about a year ago and the 'rescued' books have been sat in my every growing to do basket being a bit neglected.

Until now........

I covered two pages in Designer Series Paper from the neutrals stack and bound it together with some pages of Basic Black cardstock to create this little book.

Its purpose ????????

But it looks pretty.

My first wedding commision.

Goodness me doesn't working cut in to your free time. Not sure I'm cut out for this working crafter malarkey.

Never mind until I win the lottery needs must.

Something I've been working on for a little while now is a set of wedding invites for a friend of my mums.

The bride wanted a lilac and white colour scheme with a simple yet elegant design.

Well what else could I reach for other than Perfect Plum and Wedding Sweet.

I made up a few mock designs and this was the one she chose.

Personally I think the wallet invites are so much more elegant and sophisticated than A6 cards, they of course take so much longer to make.

I had sorted all the measurements on the mock up so made all 30 invites with these measurements (as you do). Only when it came to filling the pocket with the RSVP bits and bobs the wallet wouldn't close properly, so I had to dismantle them all and cut the pockets down a little bit.

My advice, when doing mock ups complete them as you would the real thing, might save a bit of time and frustration!!!!

Where on earth did tuesday go?

I actually think someone stole it, because I don't remember it.

Had a bit of a rough day today, woke up not feeling too well, then the kids were just being kids ALL day.

So I made sure that by the time hubby came home from work the 3 boys had been fed (unusual in this house as we like to sit down together), I'd made him a cuppa and ran me a bath.

He walks in, gets a 30 second account of my day before I'm running to the bathroom and locking the door.

So I have now been in my P.J's since 6.30pm eaten Chinese and chocolate and have no inclination to set up my craft space and make anything.

So for todays (late) offering I thought I'd show you a little bag I made a little while ago.

Its a down sized version of a bag in a box. I found the measurements here.

Right then I'm off to veg a little more. Hopefully I can muster up the strength to pick up the t.v remote!!!

What a great weekend.

The last two days have been filled with my favourite things, family, friends and craft.

Saturday was 'Abi's Angels' team training. Not every one was able to make it, but those of us that did enjoyed a whole day of crafting, laughing and sharing ideas and inspiration with one another.

This is what I made for the days swap

We were given 'gifts' as a theme, so I made peg fridge magnets.

I've got loads more pictures to show you, just need to take them first!

Today we took the kids to Paignton Zoo.

Now I had a great day but unfortunately not everyone did

This is my eldest son Aaron, who after being in the Zoo for about 15 minutes started asking we could home.

The only times I think I saw him smile was when I gave him food, when he bounced his way across the rope bridge (with us on it) and when we walked through the exit.

Oh well you can't please them all

Alex on the other hand had a great time, and even got to feed a gorilla.

Ok so it was a plastic gorilla money box, and he fed it 50p but doesn't it make a great picture.

So that was my weekend, hope yours was just as great.

Two Tone Stampin

Not tried this technique before but I actually quite like the results.

First you ink up your stamp in a pale ink then roll the edges of the stamp in a darker ink.

Think I'll be doing this again but with some bright spring colours.

My crafting days are over

All through my maternity leave I've continued to put Alex into nursery

1- because he loves it

2- because I love having a bit of a break from him (am I a terrible parent?)

Trouble is now that I've gone back to work I can only afford to put him in (and now Aidan) for the days I'm at work not home.

So thats that my crafting days are now well and truly over....

Of course for my crafting to continue I do have to stop being an evening couch potato so it might be a bit hit and miss.

I picked up some small picture frame at a car boot last summer and this is the first time I've done anything with them.

At first I wanted to make christmas tree decorations but ran out of time, so instead we have a fridge magnet.

Today has been lovely but some what hectic.

Aidan turned ONE today (still getting a bit teary at the thought) so we've had visitors, presents and confusion as poor Alex couldn't quite understand why he wasn't getting anything and decided that Aidan should share his new toys. Of course in the eyes of a 3 year old sharing means you let him play with it.

But now its all quiet, the boys are in bed, I've found the front room carpet and we've order an Indian for dinner.

If I can drag myself off the sofa after I've eaten way too much food then I'll get the table out and have a little play later - got a couple of things I'm working on to get finished.

Today was my first day back at work following my maternity leave.

Where have the last 12 months gone!!!

It wasn't too bad, I spent most of my time sat in front of a computer screen catching up on lapsed training.

I've still got more to do but had to stop as I was suffering from information overload.

Still work won't keep me from crafting, so here is todays offering.

I've been lacking a bit of inspiration of late, so I pulled out my stash of old SU catalogues and have been caseing layouts and designs.

Sometimes this leads on to my own creations sometimes not.

But what it does do is let me craft without stressing that what I'm coming up with is a pile of rubbish!!!

So you may recognise some of the cards coming up over the next few days/weeks/years.......

I guess it depends on how long it takes my mojo to back back.

Bit late in posting tonight, but ya thought I'd forgotten.

Last night I had a play with Party this Way.

Only managed to do 3 cards as I kept getting distracted watching the Comic Relief dance programme that I taped the other night (so very funny).

This is why I love Stampin' Up!

These cards look so professional and its all down to the colour matching.

The colours used in the inks is the same as the paper and the cardstock, it really does make a huge difference.

.........about the only type of cycling I'm likely to do any time soon.

I needed something to throw some pens into for my workshop the other day and heres what I ended up using.

Unfortunatley that very morning my recycling had been collected so I had to open and eat (well my can't have any waste now can we) a tin of rice pudding.

It now sits on the shelf and holds all the tools I use most frequently whilst crafting, the plan is that after I use a tool it goes back in the pot, thus stoping me from losing it.

Hoping the plan sets in soon!!!!!!

My Craft Haven

I don't know about you but I love to see other peoples crafting spaces.

Mostly it gets me a little jealous, (there are some lucky ladies out there) but it does come in handy when I'm in the mood for over hauling my area.

My crafting is done on a fold out table in the front room. I am fortunate enough to have a hubby supportive enough of my hobby/obsession that he doesn't mind me pinching the only storage we have in the front room to store (most) of my stuff.

So here it is my little spot.

I haven't managed to blag all the cubbyhole,s the bottom ones have been given over to the ever growing toy mountain, but its nice to have things to hand and not have to drag it all out of the cupboard each time (this is what I used to do).

Funnily enough, when we bought this unit from Ikea 2 years ago, I pointed out to my hubby how the squares were the perfect size for storing 12x12 papers!!!!

My First Workshop

Well it finally happened, having been a demo for 5 months I finally did I workshop. Yeah for me.

And a BIG yeah for my mummy for hosting it.

So there were 8 guests in total (only mum and my sister are dabblers) but mum had wrangled some friends together to help get me started, none of whom had crafted before.

This is the project that I demo'd

I did 2 to show the different effect stamping on the base card had.

The workshop was host during Sale a Bration so I used Bliss.

I would love to be able to tell you the reason for my absence was because I was whisked away somewhere exotic, but no such luck.

My reason is far more mundane and boring and that would be everyday life.
