Birthday Bumps
Super quick post for you today to show the card I made for my cousins 18th birthday.
I HATE doing male cards (because I'm rubbish at them) but this one was easier because it was a number card.
I'm really enjoying using this layered embossing technique as it makes a really good background.

Final Challenge Card
Heres the final card I entered in the ILWS 4th Birthday Challenges this time the colour challenge.
We had to work with: Calypso Coral, Ridinghood Red, Basic Grey and either Whisper White or Very Vanilla.
Now the only Ridinghood Red I have is a Stampin' Write marker and some stripped grosgrain ribbon.
So I used the marker to ink up the Medallion stamp, it gave a slightly mottled impression which actually gives it an illusion of texture.
I have to say I really like how this card came out.
Im really glad I participated in the challenges, not only to show my support for a site/forum that I visit on a daily basis but it also took me out of my crafting comfort zone and do know what?
It wasn't a scary place to be!!!!
So who knows I might seek out a challenge or two in the future.

Another Challenge
So I shared with you the card I made for one of the ILWS birthday challenges yesterday and today its the turn of the second challenge card I made. This one was an Inspiration Challenge, something Ive not participated in one before.
We were given this image to draw inspiration from
(the original wasn't this grainy, don't quite know how I managed to make it so)
And this is what I came up with
Tomorrow Ill show you the final card I made, its actually my favourite of the 3

ILWS Birthday Challenge
On Friday the site In Love With Stamping celebrated its fourth birthday.
In honour of this the wonderful people that run it set 5 crafty challengers throughout the day.
In honour of this the wonderful people that run it set 5 crafty challengers throughout the day.
This was my entry into the second challenge of the day
The challenge was 4x4 and you had to create a card or scrapbook page that contains things in multiples of 4.
Now normally when I try and participate in challenges I start with good intentions but never seem to complete the project within the given time.
Guess what?
I was the first person to upload a projoct
(shock horror)
that spurred me on to complete 2 more out of the 5 challenges set, but Ill show you those over the next couple of days.

Doing something a bit different
Ive never been a huge fan of 3D decoupage.
There I said it, I know a large proportion of the crafting world are recoiling in horror, but for me I just don't get it.
Maybe its because the majority of kits made for decoupage are of flower baskets and cutesy kittens.
Anyway it was not the plan I had when it came to making this card.
When I attached the stamped sunflower from Creative Elements I thought I'd finished but I just didn't feel like the card was done.
Sometimes this does happen, you can spend an hour stamping and binning things because you don't 'feel' the card (if I'm completely honest I still don't love this one even now).
I realised the sunflower looked too flat so I inked up the image, stamped, coloured, cut and then layered with Dimensionals
And now look
Isn't that better?
Well it will be when I've redone the card itself.
So maybe when you put a Stampin' Up! spin on decoupage it isn't so bad after all.

Line Art
I was having a play with line embossing over the weekend, this job is made super easy with our new Simply Scored scoring board.
(See the Summer Mini Catalogue)
For this card I scored diagonal lines 1cm apart on a piece of Pink Pirouette.
(although the lighting in the picture makes it look more like Regal Rose)
To create the fancy edge I punched with the Decorative Label punch along the base of the cardstock then used the same punch with its coordinating stamp set -Four Frames- to for the greeting tag.
Add a flower from Funky Flowers Bigz die some ribbon and you have the completed card.
